Summary/Abstract: Turkey and Iran, which have been a deep-rooted state tradition with historical imperial background and correspondingly characterized their identities and ideological standing and their geopolitical goals as well and they desire to influence the same hinterlands. Consequently they compete with eachother. In addition, the common economic relations developed by the mentioned countries due to their neighborhood and their common attitudes against status quo reflected against foreign interventions also encourage cooperation. In this context, it is obvious that competition and cooperation are integral part of the Turkey-Iran ties. In this article, Turkey-Iran relations are discussed by considering history, identity and geopolitical factors.
