Summary/Abstract: Virtual reality represents a significant paradigm shift in digital media content development, determining the emergence of new media genres. Virtual reality non-fiction (VRNF), also known as VR documentary, offers a fertile ground for research from an interdisciplinary perspective involving literature, philosophy, psychology, neuroscience, journalism, media and communication studies, cinematography, and many others. The paper addresses some conceptual perspectives that determine the grammar of the visual language in the production of VR documentaries, such as perception, immersion, or embodiment studies, and aims to determine if there are – or should be - preferable topics tackled with this technology.
