Summary/Abstract: Studies conducted on the Romanies mention problems common to Romany communities. These problems can be listed as poverty of the Romanies, social exclusion and deprivation of basic human rights. In this study, however, education problem, which is the most important of the areas in which the Romanies are disadvantaged, is discussed. The aim of the study is to understand whether or not the Design Skills Workshops, which were established within the scope of the National Education Ministry’s 2023 Vision, help to increase attendance and achievement at schools attended mainly by Romany children in Edirne city centre and indirectly, to reduce differences between city centre schools in Edirne. A sociological perspective was used in this study because the issue of education is not only in the field of educational sciences but also in sociology. Hence, it is important to understand sociological dimensions of the education of disadvantaged groups.
