Summary/Abstract: Due probably to fame and to the impact of Marguerite Yourcenar’s novels on the Romanian readers, their Romanian versions have often been subject to discussion. Throughout the present article, we intend to analyze the characteristics of the Romanian translation of L’OEuvre au noir as performed by Sanda Oprescu and published first in 1971. Our approach comprises a set of lexical changes (proper examples included) which the translator operated for the benefit of coherence and which are to be noted as proofs of Sanda Oprescu’s art as a remarkable translator.
