Summary/Abstract: This article investigates the Polish translation of Julius Zeyer’s "Rokoko" (“Rococo”) published in 1910 by MarylaWolska in "Lamus" (“Lamus”) (Lviv 1908−1913), a journal she co-edited. This is the attempt to indicate the relationship between the writer’s translation choices and her artistic self-creation on the Lviv literary map, and to this end the author briefly describes Wolska’s contacts with the city’s cultural milieu in the wake of the disintegration of her artistic group “Płanetnicy” (The Rainmakers). Also, the author examines the transformations of Wolska’s literary craftsmanship and her approach to her role as a translator. Considering these themes will allow to inquire into the rationale behind Wolska’s choice to translate this particular literary work: Zeyer’s "Rokoko".
