Summary/Abstract: The author of the paper focuses on innovative and creative solutions applied in explaining grammatical phenomena of Slovak language as a foreign language that aim at supporting the passive perception of the explained studying material and developing of productive language skills. The collection of Slovak language textbooks Krížom-krážom (A1-B2) is the outcome of a project of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic named Slovak Language as a Foreign Language that is being solved by a collective of authors and coworkers of Studia Academica Slovaca – The Center for Slovak as a Foreign Language of Comenius University in Bratislava. The selection of grammatical phenomena in the textbooks is subordinate to everyday communication situations and their easy acquisition is helped by richly illustrated contents and didactically processed texts and exercises. These components are supposed to help students to not only handle the process of acquisition of Slovak grammar, but also to interest them, entertain and thus motivate them in further studies.
