Summary/Abstract: This article highlights the cartographic methods of ethnic group at school. The study uses the corpus of school geography (texts, maps, iconographic documents) analyzed on the basis of school practices and reference knowledges. The study shows school as an enunciating pole of the nation like scientific and political circles. In fact, School as an institution stands out from political and administrative fields, for ethnic group is built like a social body with a meaning. Moreover, even if school reproduces the essentialist logic the ethnic groups of Senegalese scholars, school shows with cartography some modes of representation that submit the analysis of the ethnic fact to learning objectives which deal with discovery, specification and description.
