Summary/Abstract: Collection development is a creative process that requires the designer to use his/her knowledge, talents, mental and social skills together. Due to its nature, this process focuses on mental skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and process management, as well as social skills such as collaborative work, discussion and communication. For this reason, it is thought that the active learning approach, which includes strategies based on project, problem solving, questioning and collaboration, will be an effective tool in obtaining the achievements of Fabric and Color Trends Collection course that places in undergraduate program of AHBVU Textile Design Department. In this study, which aims to present a proposal for the use of active learning techniques as a tool in this course, a course operation form in which these techniques are integrated has been prepared and applied. The effects of this practice on students' attitudes were investigated. The results showed that the active learning approach has positive effects especially in the terms of interest level, self-confidence, participation and motivation.
