Summary/Abstract: The history of art that some artists shape their works through stances that exceed aesthetic concerns. On the other hand, it is thought that the theme of society, which is imaged in visual art works, is realized with the concern of the artist taking the initiative and conveying the message about the social situation. It has been observed that the artists, who can be considered as observers of the society, may prefer to reflect the ordinary and contradictory behavior models that are not aware of in daily life in the image of society they present. Contemporary director Nuri Bilge Ceylan's works are viewed in a line that deals with and visualizes various aspects of society with its contemporary narrative richness. On the other hand, it was seen that P. Brueghel, the contrary painter of the Renaissance, also imaged society with his critical expressions. These approaches reveal the complex structure of works of art that cannot be explained within the framework of a single discipline and plastic elements, and the pioneering intuitions of the artists. The contradictory behaviors that come to the fore in the social image constructs in works of art and the state of society have made us think about the side of the subject that requires interdisciplinary investigation. The aim of this study is to reveal how the behavior occurs within the framework of social norms and at the same time, to reveal the fictional unity of the image of society and individual, which is determined in works of art produced in different periods as a social documentation tool. In this context, the behavioral similarities of contemporary director Nuri Bilge Ceylan's film Once Upon a Time in Anatolia and the figures in P. Brueghel's works, which are depicted in daily life, are examined. It is assumed that the study will contribute to the emphasis of the artist's equipment and sensitivity as observers and pioneers of the society, as well as to the interaction of interdisciplinary studies.
