EVALUATION OF THE CONCEPT OF TRANSFORMATION THROUGH BOKE

Summary/Abstract: It is acknowledged that people have depicted what they see in nature by the filter which is their own mental world, on various cave walls and organic objects such as rocks in primitive periods. These depictions embodied the forms of behavior shaped by the nature-human relationship with the use of figurative or abstract ways of formal expression manifested on objects found in nature. In this article, the effect of the factor known as böke in the Hun period, a feature known for turning the wheel of the universe in many legends -which transforms and changes through history- on art is examined, rather than the large geographical areas where the Turks once lived. The concept of transformation in the mythologies of different cultures will be argued priorly and then its transformation into cultural identity as a symbol via the böke in Turkish epics. For this paper, both the research on narrative and formal creations that debate the transformation has been examined and its effect on art has been discussed. As a result of this research, under the influence of oral narratives such as epics, the mythical relations of these forms will be uncovered and the böke symbol will be evaluated in detail on the basis of its place and conceptual structure in the previous and current thoughts/systems while its artistic and intellectual reflections on our age will be emphasized.
