Summary/Abstract: It is universally assumed nowadays that the meaning of the concept of liberty is clear. It is supposed to be a negative concept, pertaining to the sphere of unimpeded action of a person. However there is another modern meaning of the concept of liberty, a republican meaning, that is also a negative concept of liberty that completes the established liberal concept of liberty and corrects it, improves it while showing its falseness.
