Summary/Abstract: In recent years, due to the threat posed by globalization, industrialization and urbanization, the cultural heritage created by human beings with a long history has been faced with an increasingly serious crisis. In the fight against this problem, together with governments non-governmental actors such as and international organizations have also taken part, and these actors have started studies for the protection and survival of cultural heritage. It is known that non-governmental organizations, which are thought to have a very important role among these actors, are also very functional in creating solutions to the problems of the city or creating awareness on certain issues and creating projects in this direction. In this context the role and importance of non-governmental organizations in the protection of tangible and intangible cultural heritage has been examined in the study. For this purpose, the project called "sun rising on tent" aiming to keep the Yoruk (Turkish nomadic people) culture alive and carried out by Mara District Aid and Solidarity Association (MARADER), a non-governmental organization, has been examined. In line with the information obtained from the study carried out with the qualitative research method, it has been observed that MARADER as a non-governmental organization has created an awareness for the protection of cultural heritage in terms of activities such as panels and meetings organized within the scope of the project.
