Summary/Abstract: My paper is based on the field-research that I fulfilled in 2006 and 2007 in Sercaia (Brasov). Using the methods as: interview, ethnographic description and life stories, we tried to reconstruct the life style of the Saxon community between the third and the sixth decency of the XX century from the point of view of the insiders (both Saxons and Romanians). The dialog was focused on the traditional activities (the everyday life and peasant food), the social structures (religious and lay feasts and customs and rites of passage). We correlated two inside views: on one hand talking with the last Saxon inhabitants about their own culture, confession, mentality and life style, on the other, interviewing Romanian people about the advantage and the asperity in co-habitation context. As it is known, Saxon civilization carried in those regions where they came as colonists a redoubtable social and economical paradigm. This model is apparent even in our days not only in the configuration of the entire village and also of the households, in the farms' management but even in the general behavior and conceptions about life and work. Therefore we advance the idea of a local identity which replaced the ethnic and the regional ones.
