Summary/Abstract: The paper presents an overview of filmmaking in Montenegro in the period 1955 -1960. The analysis of the content of films that appeared in Montenegro in the mentioned period indicates the tendencies to distance from ideologized and politically engaged art in the time of the socialist system. Through the analysis of film creation, the author opens a research question on the real limits of artistic freedoms in the time of the socialist system and problematizes the stereotype of the non-existence or insignificance of freedom of artistic creation.
