Summary/Abstract: This scientific article examines the causes of the Afghan crisis of August 2021 and the negative trends in the future that could have in the Middle East. The destabilization of the Middle East and the factors having a negative impact on the national security of the Republic of Bulgaria in two main aspects - the refugee wave and the potential danger of committing terrorist acts on the territory of the country.
