Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to analyze the work at the time of its writing, in which the folklorist presened the pagan gods Perun, Khors, Dazhdbog, Stribog, Simargl and Mokosh, whose idols were ordered by St. Vladimir, who sowed the throne in Kyiv. The study is carried out in the context of the study of Ukrainian mythology based on the reflections and conclusions of the ethnologist, made during the consideration of folklore samples. The contribution of a scientist (folklori t and religious scholar) to the development of this scientific problem is determined. The relevance of the study is determined by the growing interest in the study of domestic (Ukrainian) mythology, which for a long time was considered exclusively as Slavic and was not defined as independent. The novelty of the study lies in the fact that for the first time since 1931 (when the work was published in the journal “Samostiyna Dumka”), the scientist’s idea of the main gods, which Prince Vladimir of Kyiv worshiped for a long time, is considered. The article uses general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, as well as linguistic methods – descriptive, structural, comparative-historical. Conclusions. Exploring the remains of the most ancient beliefs of our ancestors through the prism of the spiritual culture of the Ukrainian people (and folklore in particular), K. Lastivka, for the first time after V. Gnatiuk, raised the issue of a serious study of the higher mythology of ancient Ukrainians on national grounds. Bukovinian ethnologist, like I. Ogienko, rose to the level of the spiritual Olympus, from the height of which he was able to adequately assess the stages of development of religion and beliefs of distant ancestors, and not every cultural scientist, clergyman manages to do this.
