Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes European legislation on text and data mining, based on Directive2019/790 of the European Parliament and of the Council on Copyright and related rightsin the Digital Single Market (DSM Directive). The Directive has introduced two mandatoryexceptions to existing exclusive rights under European law for the purpose of text and datamining (Articles 3 and 4). Moreover, the article answers the question whether and to whatextent the provisions of Polish copyright law require adjustment to the European orderin this respect.
