Summary/Abstract: What was the mistake in believing that the opposition would do better in the elections of April 2022? What are the causes of the extraordinarily victory of the governing coalition – while the opposition lost votes? The opposition alliance had tested its chances successfully in a primary election. Although research in this area is far from being complete, these remarks – without claiming to be exhaustive – draw out some important points. The main regulations of the Hungarian electoral law and the election procedure are presented and an overview of the election campaign is provided. As a sworn-in member of a vote counting committee delegated by the opposition alliance, the author also analyses her own elections experiences.
