Summary/Abstract: The transition from communism to democracy produced major changes both in the situation of monuments in Romania and in the methodological process of conservation-restoration of cultural heritage assets. It was thus observed that, in addition to the traditional methods of conservation-restoration, modern investigative materials and techniques were introduced in this methodological process, as well as scientific methods for researching works of art. The purpose of these methods was to preserve the authenticity of cultural assets and to transmit heritage values in full integrity to future generations.
