Summary/Abstract: The paper highlights the negative, as well as the positive, consequences of consumerism for Evangelical communities in post-communist Romania. Consumerism is identified as a feature of postmodernity, as a way of life that focuses on pleasure, possessions, desire, and consumption. It may offer opportunities for Christian ministry, but it also presents a challenge due to its penchant for individualism, seeking one’s own satisfaction to the detriment of others, and the priority given to material aspects of life rather than spiritual matters.
