Summary/Abstract: In the paper are presented and commented parts of the interviews focused on the customs related to slava, taken in Junе of 2017 during the author’s fieldwork in three Serbian villages of Danube gorge in Romanian Banat ‒ Belobreška (Belobreşca), Divić (Divici) and Stara Moldava (Moldova Veche). The attention is drаwn to some specific elements of the cult of ancestors perceived in these customs: 1) the visit to the village graveyard the day before slava, where a ritual invitation of ancestors to the slava feast is made in an act of explicit verbal invitation, accompanied by lightning a candle and pouring vine on each of the graves in which the ancestors are buried and 2) dedication of all the food which is to be eaten during the second day of slava to the ancestors. These local, but clearly archaic customs can be of special importance for further research of the phenomenon of slava, its functions and origins, which have been largely discussed during the previous decades.
