Science and investigation. The image of science in chosen detective stories

Summary/Abstract: This article discusses detective novels in which a hero or a heroine uses scientific knowledge in the course of investigation. Authors often transfer personal experiences and facts from professional, scientific carriers to the world of detective stories. It is interesting phenomenon of popular culture, because such stories have educational value for many readers, who treat them as a source of real knowledge. The relation between fiction and reality consist of two aspects: formal and ethical. The latter is more important for writers I have pointed out in my article.
