Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses some features of Makine’s novels from the point of view of cultural anthropology. The Russian-French writer is a good example of a bearer of two cultures in which he developed himself, Russian, by birth, and French, by education. Being in the same time a Western writer, a representative of Western literature with all its features, he is also a profound Russian writer while describing his childhood and life in a Russian manner (considerations about the Russian soul, the opposition East/West, Russia/ West Europe and so on).
