Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to consider the hospital as topos of war that showing the metaphysical and existential vision of the characters through the comparative analysis of novels The Journal of Carnojevic and The Wings, representative in the Serbianʼs war expressionist prose, thematically related to the period of the First World War. Using the ranges of Bachelardʼs poetics of space and Foucault’s notion of heterotopy, it is necessary to show that the space of the hospital functions as a «second space», ie the space of the other reality, isolated, hermetical, and reveal its relation with the notions of identity, dislocation and eroticism, and their role of the poetic system of Milos Crnjanski and Stanislav Krakov. In the conclusion, the paper emphasizes the functionality of discursive representation hospital as a topos in the novels in question, as well as the similarities and differences in its representation of the semantic and narrative aspects.
