Summary/Abstract: The British Liberal John Emeric Eduard Dalberg-Acton (1834—1902), one of the most distinctive Historians of the 19th Century, founded the reknown „Cambridge Modern History“ when he was professor of History in Cambridge. Among his other works are „Die Neuere Deutsche Geschichtswissenschaft“ , „Lecture on the Study of History“, „History of Freedom and other Essays“ und „Lecture on the French Revolution“. Special attention had been attracted by his "Epistle to a German Bishop of the Vatican Concile" and his book "On the History of the Vatican Concile" Der englische Liberale John Emeric Eduard Dalberg-Acton (1834—1902), einer der markantesten Historiker des 19. Jahrhunderts, begründete als Professor für Neuere Geschichte in Cambridge die bekannte „Cambridge Modern History“. Zu seinen übrigen Werken gehören „Die Neuere Deutsche Geschichtswissenschaft“ , „Lecture on the Study of History“, „History of Freedom and other Essays“ und „Lecture on the French Revolution“. Besonderes Aufsehen erregten sein „Sendschreiben an einen deutschen Bischof des vatikanischen Konzils“ und seine Schrift „Zur Geschichte des vatikanischen Konzils“.
