Summary/Abstract: The paper examines travelogues and essays written by Anka Godjevac Subbotic, Ph.D. (1890-1983), the first women in Serbia to receive a law doctorate degree, who has spent a part of her lofe abroas (Great Britain, USA). Her travelogues (Amsterdam-Ankara, Belgrade, 1937; From Three Continents, Melbourne, 1961) were partially written in journalistic style, but also with a great eye for detail and for comparing the old and the new (eg. the old and the new Turkey). In them, she writes about many countries and cities, such as Turkey, Greece, the Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Versailles, Geneva, Paris, Athens, etc., while at the same time she offers insights into the literary and cultural situation in Serbia and nearby countries. Her valuable contribution lies in establishing the cultural parallels between East and West.
