Summary/Abstract: Sigismondo deʼ Conti’s "Le Storie deʼSuoi tempi dal 1475 al 1510" offers precious data on Pope Innocent VIII’s crusade plan. The Romanian Principalities’ role in it seems to have been influenced by the arrival to Rome, in 1490, of Filippo Buonaccorsi Callimachus, emissary of the Polish king. He brought the Roman pontiff a writing which shed light on the military capacity of the Danube principalities – a capacity tested by their resistance against the Ottoman offensive.
