Summary/Abstract: Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council lays down the obligation for selected controllers and processors of personal data to appoint the data protection officer. The data protection officer may be a staff member of the controller or processor, or fulfil the tasks on the basis of a service contract.
