CASE STUDY

Summary/Abstract: Starting with Metropolis Center (Bdul Iancu de Hunedoara nr. 63-65, Bucharest) design experience – a project that puts together the old building of Cartea Românească printing house and a new extension - a strategy for integrating old and new is proposed. A close look into the past of the location, of the site itself and of the building triggers the topics the new buildings should asses. The historical study was an invaluable research tool. We found the answers to a set of questions by interpreting and understanding the data revealed by this research. Thus we built a methodology consisting of three steps in order to integrate the old and the new.
