Summary/Abstract: “Like a breath” – that’s what Horia Bernea wanted the Romanian Peasant Museum to be when he conceived it. “A breath of fresh air” meant to bring back the normal, the natural, in a world that seemed to have lost it. Society has undergone a great deal of changes from the moment in which Bernea stated these ideas, but nevertheless, the Romanian Peasant Museum has remained impregnated by this function of a museum as a healing gesture. The values it stands for prove it, and they are also values in which the Romanian people find themselves when they are trying to reconnect with their origins: tradition, faith, humanity, nation.
