Summary/Abstract: The Museum of the Romanian Peasant is not one which lets itself taken for granted by the visitor. It will certainly disappoint those who are looking for nothing more but objects – deprived of vibration, protected by secure glass cases, obediently aligned and emptied of all mystery by driedup labels offering nothing else but information, appeasing the conscience with the illusion of understanding. The Museum of the Romanian Peasant incites the visitor. Even if this sometimes makes it uncomfortable and problematic. It nettles like a riddle with an answer still unknown, like an unfinished mosaic, like a search in progress. It asks for the visitor’s whole attention and spirit, it stirs and invites him/ her to ferret, to knead, to imagine brand new meanings starting from old things. To give a try and, if one does not come to an end, to return.
