Summary/Abstract: The protection of natural resources and the minimizing of energy consumption have led the debates on housing and sustainable environment to the idea of densification of the existing urban structure. The increase of studies on density reveals the extensive complexity of this concept, in direct relation with the complexity of urban life. This complexity is of foremost importance when the goal is achieving a sustainable development from an economic, social, as well as environmental perspective.
