Summary/Abstract: The privacy and personalisation of the residence are key problems of the collective housing assemblies, regardless of the time they were built. For Post-War collective housing, these problems are more pronounced due to the political constrains that dictated the urban and architectural features of the housing assemblies. The paper studies the impairment of residential privacy and the depersonalization of the residence in the Post-War urban development in Romania, regarding different types of apartment buildings. The aim of this critical approach is to serve a further evaluation of the possibilities to mitigate the spotted deficiencies of collective housing by means of an integrated refurbishment strategy. The study is focused on the most voluminous post-war housing construction period, the years 1960-1990.
