Summary/Abstract: Deployment of central administration makes a vital factor in the local and regional development, since from the perspective of central functions described by W. Christaller, it is one of the most important tools of regional and local policies. In this article, the author compares the location of central administration offices and research institutes to the Polish settlement network declared in documents. An important element of the paper, apart from the theoretical framework, is the systematization of the location of relevant offices and institutes.
