Summary/Abstract: Inherent in the pictorial activity of the child are all common to human activity features and properties: purposefulness and awareness; activity and activity; social character, etc. This activity has its own specific features, the disclosure of which determines its place in the overall process of formation and development of the personality. The psychological study of children's art is dictated by the need to clarify the sources and mechanisms for the formation and development of art and creative abilities of preschool children. They help to determine what mental properties are formed through it, what aspects of human culture are assimilated by the child at this stage of his development. The creative atmosphere and attitude to carry out art activities are very important for preschool children. They should feel satisfied and happy with their creative work, and when they draw, model and apply, they should be transported to another world of magic, emotions and feelings. Therefore, it is necessary to build the training in art activities in the children's tradition so that it has the character of a journey to an unknown country, where at every step children are waiting for amazing and unexpected stories and discoveries.
