Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the interdisciplinary analysis of the inscriptions. The term inscription has been defined as a handwritten text on a book or printed work presented as a gift to another person. The author points out that there are almost no data about the inscriptions in our sources. The author has analyzed this type of text dedicated to the same, female person during the last fifty years (from 1954 to 2004) written by the different people and in various foreign languages (above all in English, German and Russian). The body of the researched texts consists of 135 inscriptions. The unit of the analysis is a handwritten inscription consisting of four major parts: of the identification of the person who received the inscription, the relationship between the person who sent and the one who received the inscription, the identification of the author of the inscription, the data about the place and time of its writing. The author has analyzed the parts of the texts as well as their syntactic and lexical features on which basis she suggests certain rules of the writing this type of texts. The results have been presented in an interdisciplinary way according to the cultural environment and social circumstances that influenced them significantly. The meaning of the texts has been researched on the basis of the linguistic and non linguistic elements. It has also been pointed out that there is a significant difference between the texts written by male and female persons as well as that the structure of the text is almost the same regardless of the fact that the have being written during the last fifty years (which was expected since the text are formulaic and have almost the same pattern like the texts of greeting, of expressing condolences etc). It has been concluded that the texts of inscription depend on the interaction between the textual and non textual parts of the text.
