Summary/Abstract: Every time we speak about another nation we often use clichés, stereotype constructs instead of real, authentic description of their features. In Romanian folklore, proverbs, anecdotes are only few genres in which we can read about qualities and especially imperfections of a people or another. If we are interested in going a little deeper into those peculiar national traits that often burst to the surface in a character, we’ll will find many examples of national habits and tendencies which we may vaguely have noticed before but could not really put your finger on. The paper provides a penetrating and entertaining analysis of the attitudes and behavioural traits of each nationality. The main conclusion we can raise is the lack of a real interests for all these people and for their character. Before making judgments about other peoples' ways of thinking and living, try to understand why they are the way they are. But in folk perception we won’t deal with this principle.
