Analysis of the judgment in the case of I.V.Ţ. v. Romania. Right of a minor to the protection of his/her image

Summary/Abstract: In the present case, the Court examines the collision between the right to privacy in the case of a minor and the freedom of expression of the press related to an interview with a child without the consent of his or her parents, which was broadcast on television and after which the child himself and his family felt the hostile attitude of his colleagues and teachers. The domestic courts dismissed the action for damages lodged by the minor against the television station for the damage suffered, for which reason the ECHR concluded that the applicant's right to privacy had been violated.
