Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the theoretical framework that would be the best place for the current processes of restandardization in the newly standardized South Slavic languages in the changed historical, socio-political and sociolinguistic situation and after the dissolution of Yugoslavia and the disappearing of its official language of Serbo-Croatian. The South Slavic language theorists, and many others, have tried to build various theoretical models of language planning which may include procedures in languages that after the standard Serbo-Croat entered the process of building their own processes of standardization. When we talk about the stages of planning and development of already standardized languages, we talk about all standardized languages belonging to the newly- stokavian dialect of the Serbo-Croat language, then the theoretical linguistics increasingly understood the process of re standardization as a process of transformation of a language that has already passed the process of standardization. The proposed scheme of the process that leads to a transformation consisting of: standardization; variantization and restandardization is fully applicable to our linguistic reality. After the theoretical part of the paper, the author presents the results of restandardization of the Montenegrin language.
