CONCEPT CATEGORIES EXPRESSED IN ENGLISH TERMS OF THE BIOTECHNOLOGY SPHERE

Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the categorical analysis of the English terminology in the field of biotechnology. The typologies of conceptual categories are considered. The existing classifications of concepts types verbalized by terms are given. An attempt to distribute the terms according to the categories allocated for the study area is made. The percentage ratio of terminological lexical units included in each of the categories is indicated. The paper highlights the most and least frequent conceptual categories, which are expressed in terms belonging to the area of scientific knowledge under consideration. The importance of studying the typology of terminological units for the analysis of the systemic organization of specialized vocabulary is substantiated.
