PROMOTION OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES: ASSESSMENTS THROUGH UNIVERSITY TECHNOPARKS

Summary/Abstract: Today, a high innovation environment is required for the development of national economies and the growth of GDP. Developing an innovation ecosystem requires direct scientific research and application of its results to industry. As a result of the establishment of university-industry cooperation, research and development (R&D) activities are accelerated. University-industry cooperation is common in technology parks. Research and development and innovation are interdependent. A large part of the exports of developed countries, especially technological products, is the result of research and development activities. The result of these activities is ultimately called innovation. Most of the technoparks where innovation activities are carried out are technoparks built on the basis of universities. One of the main goals of university-based technology parks is to support and commercialize research conducted by university academic staff. According to the efficiency criteria of technoparks, one of the main criteria is the research and development activities carried out in technoparks and the ratio of the number of employees involved in these activities to the total number of employees. It should also be noted that the services it offers support research and development activities. The article considers research and development activities as a key area of activity for university and industry cooperation and, in this context, technology parks. In the evaluation, which referred to the world's leading university technology parks, the deficiencies of research and development activities and the importance of the catalyst role of the university in eliminating these deficiencies were emphasized. The implementation of advanced technopark applications in the technoparks to be established in the liberated Karabakh region of Azerbaijan also found wide coverage.
