Summary/Abstract: On 20-21 June 2021, religious events in Sibiu were dedicated to the patronal feast of the Metropolitan Cathedral. On the feast day (the feast of the Holy Trinity), the Holy Liturgy was celebrated by His Eminence Laurenţiu, Archbishop of Sibiu and Metropolitan of Transylvania, alongside a synaxis of bishops, priests and deacons. Many of the faithful in attendance were wearing traditional national costumes of Mărginimea Sibiului and southern Transylvania. The organization of events adhered to the safety measures currently in force. In his sermon, His Eminence Metropolitan Laurenţiu expounded the Orthodox teachings on the Holy Trinity and explained to the faithful the role of each Person of the Holy Trinity in the salvation of mankind. After the service of the Holy Liturgy, His Eminence Metropolitan Laurenţiu thanked the hierarchs, the choir of Deva and all the guests, for their participation in the celebration of the Metropolitan Cathedral’s patronal feast. His Eminence Metropolitan Laurenţiu also awarded several distinctions and prizes. The hierarch presented the „Order of Holy Emperor Constantine and Empress Helena”, offered by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, to Rev. Nicolae Chifăr, professor at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Sibiu, in recognition of his entire didactic and missionary activity, and offered the „Șaguna Cross for Laypersons” to Mr Vasile Cristian Roman, secretary of state at the Ministry for European Investments and Projects. Finally he also awarded prizes to the three parishes in the Archdiocese of Sibiu which ranked top three in the eparchial session of the National Contest of Catechism „The Church-family of Romanians everywhere”.
