Summary/Abstract: On 29 June 2021, the feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, the Diocesan Cathedral of Huși celebrated its patronal feast. On this occasion, His Grace Ignatie, Bishop of Huși, celebrated the Holy Liturgy alongside other bishops of our Church. The event was also attended by priests and deacons from the eparchy, representatives of the central and local authorities, and many devout Christians. After the Gospel reading, the sermon was delivered by His Grace Nichifor Botoșăneanul, Vicar Bishop to the Archdiocese of Iași. At the conclusion of the Holy Liturgy, His Grace Ignatie reminded that the year 2021 marks the 25th anniversary of the re-establishment of the centuries-old Huși Diocese, instated in 1598 and abusively abolished in 1949 by the atheist communist regime. At the end of the service, His Grace Ignatie offered the episcopal Cross „Bishop Grigorie Leu” – the highest distinction of Huși Diocese – as a token of appreciation and gratitude, to Mr Victor Opaschi, secretary of state for Religious Affairs, and to Mr Dumitru Buzatu, president of the County Council Vaslui. The faithful in attendance venerated the reliquary-icon of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul and the relics of the Holy Great Martyr Kyriaki, set under a canopy outside the Diocesan Cathedral.
