Summary/Abstract: In my essay The sober nest the context of the research was the society of the second half of the XIXth century and twenty years between two world wars. The purpose of the research was to show that the political, economical and moral task of the family and the point of view in it’s matter change in the revisionist way. There was used the scientific method which was based on the popular-scientific books and the polite letters which were related to the époques described in the article. There were achieved the results which from the one side confirmed the conservative nature of the family as the reference group and the social institution and from the other side – they presented the centrifugal tendentions, especially among the representants of the younger generation. From the research man can conclude the useful, paternalistic structure of the family as an economical unit – the usable function, concentrated on inculating the obligations, through the long time dominated the emotional bonds.
