Summary/Abstract: The objective of this article is to show the vulnerability of economic growth in Africa to external shocks, relative to other regions of the developing world. Moreover, we tried to explain this vulnerability theoretically and empirically. The main explanatory factors are; domestic demand, the level of development of the financial system and the quality of exports.
