Summary/Abstract: Born around 300, Paulinus was the sixth bishop of Trier, and, like his predecessor, St. Maximinus, a staunch defender of Nicene learning. When others succumbed to pressure, Bishop Pauline remained steadfast in his support of St. Athanasius, for which reason he was exiled to Phrygia, where he would end his community. The relics were later brought to Trier, and placed in the church that bears his name today. It is mentioned annually in the Orthodox and Catholic Churches on August 31, the day of his passing into eternity.
