Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to discuss human sexuality in the context of the post-conciliar teachings of the Catholic church. First, the article clarifies the employed terminology to subsequently focus on the positive and comprehensive image of human sexuality in the church’s teachings. Further, the personal orientation and purposefulness of human sexuality is analyzed. Within the deductive method the following strategies have been deployed: analysis of source texts, interpretation, comparative analysis, synthesis, and deduction. The main conclusion of the article is that the Catholic church has been slowly uncovering the truth of human sexuality, for centuries having underscored its procreative goal. Human sexuality has been most fully and positively rendered in the post-conciliar teachings of the church, especially in the thought of Popes John Paul II, Benedict XVI, and Francis.
