The revitalization of the city district: The example of Nowy Port in Gdańsk

Summary/Abstract: This article aims to demonstrate the revitalization of urban space. The Gdańsk district of Nowy Port served as a model example of the process. The municipal revitalization programme included the Nowy Port district because of its neglect, unfavourable opinion and investment needs. The article presents the actions taken, which have been divided into two separate parts: investments and work for the local society. A two-track, parallel activity involving residents was necessary to achieve the success of the entire process. The text summarizes the activities undertaken so far and emphasizes the need to undertake similar actions in other areas of the city.
