Summary/Abstract: The article highlights and characterizes the methods of representing children’s speech in Russian-language fiction, analyzing the features of natural children’s speech in comparison with the speech of literary characters in the works of Russian-speaking writers of the XX-XXI centuries. At the lexical-semantic level, a number of signs of lively, colloquial children’s speech were identified, the most frequent of which are: metaphorical transfer; mixing of closely related and same-root words; antonyms; incorrect word usage; and reflections of the concrete. The examples illustrate the practical nature of children’s thinking, and their literalistic understanding of words and expressions that have figurative meanings.
