Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on “Memoirs” of Aleksandra Piłsudska. They were prepared as a result of strong emotional experiences caused by the outbreak of war, and present a picture of strong and active women. On this basis we provide wider considerations on the problems of gender and individuation in biographic research.
